Walter started with GEAAP as a volunteer 10 years ago, training & qualifying as an addiction worker.  He has lived experience of recovery from alcohol having addressed his own addiction to alcohol.  He moved into paid employment with GEAAP in 2012 when he was initially offered a short-term contract with the intention of designing and establishing a recovery database that would guide individuals to access recovery initiatives, supporting their move from active addiction into recovery as well as supporting the Newley established Sunday Social recovery café.

For the last three years Walter has used his experience of recovery and knowledge of addiction to establish and manage GEAAP’s Peer Mentoring Service.
